PARANOIA in the real world: Accidental nukes

Man oh man, how often has this happened to you: You drive to the supermarket, and when you get there, you slap your forehead and say, "Dang, I forgot and brought along the nuclear weapons again."

Turns out the military makes that same mistake. Last week, a B-52 flew from North Dakota to Louisiana while accidentally loaded with up to six nuclear missiles with yields of five to 150 kilotons apiece.

For some reason this reminds me of the line from John Woo's 1996 film Broken Arrow, which takes its title from the military term for a lost nuclear warhead: "I don't know what's scarier, losing a nuclear weapon or that it happens so often there's actually a term for it."

Comments:
I've been reading a bunch of conspiracy boards about this lately and there seem to be two brewing notions.

One is that this was all done deliberately to make Iran acutely aware that we have actual planes moving the Real Bombs around, i.e. implying that some of those bombs are probably going to striking range of Tehran.

The other, however, is that there were six bombs in Dakota, only five in Louis, and the bomb that went missing was given, by our government, to Muslim terrorists who will use it to blow up an American city to justify Republican martial law and an unending war against Muslim terrorists. If this strategy sounds like it makes no sense at all, of course, you aren't playing enough PARANOIA.

No, seriously. If you make non-commercial use of stuff here, that's fine, but we reserve all commercial rights, and all rights to prepare derivative material on things posted here. In addition, posters of comments must be aware that we reserve the right to use whatever material they post here, and/or derivative works therefrom, in PARANOIA, supplementary products, licensed products, or derivative work, without any compensation whatever, for all time to come and throughout this universe and any alternate universes that may be discovered. At our discretion, and without obligation, we may, if it strikes our fancy, make a good faith effort to credit you for stuff we use, but we can't promise it won't slip our minds, in the hurly-burly of meeting deadlines. (Actually, we intend to do that, but it's possible we'll screw up.) By posting comments, you grant us a non-revocable, perpetual, non-exclusive license to use whatever you post, in whatsoever fashion we deem useful, here or in any other forum, in PARANOIA or in any and all future products, including but not limited to derivative works, and specifically but not exclusively including the microbrewery beer, ale and porter; salty and sugary snack; and tattoo design rights deriving therefrom. Woohoo! Is that enough legalese for you? The Computer is Your Friend.
